It looks like the Walnut tree is dead, but we have an offer of a new tree.
The North Meadow is going to be turned into a wild flower field, with the help of some experts. See below for more.
The cobbled stone wall that runs along the meadow baoundary by the road is starting to show it's age.
Unfortunately it looks like our lovely Walnut has died. Having taken advice, it will be allowed to decay naturally. But, we will be planting a new tree a suitable distance away, still in the South Meadow. It has been given by the Allen family in memory of Fergus and Joan, long term residents of Streatley, who died earlier this year (2018). There will be an accompanying plaque to commemorate the bequest.
The trustees have agreed to participate in a wild flower cultivation project, which will transform the look of the North Meadow. Follow the link to learn more.
The skills required to keep the wall ship-shape are rare and in demand. We've repaired the damage from the tree fall, but there will be more work required in the future.
